The Grundy County Sheriff’s Explorers
had an opportunity to attend the Illinois Law Enforcement Explorer State
Conference at Lewis University the week of August 2nd. While at the conference we had three teams
compete in a variety of law enforcement activities ranging from traffic stops
and crime scene processing, to building searches and rapid deployment. On August 7th an awards ceremony
was held. At the ceremony we learned
that the team of Tyler Hansen, Tyler Post, and Jordyn Bell took second place in
the “Hogan’s Alley” shoot-don’t-shoot competition and fourth place in the team
building “Obstacle Course”. Also winning
a team competition was Dave Cronin, Jasmine Sipla, Keaton Cryder, and Noah
Brannock who received fourth place in “Court Room Testimony”. In individual competitions Dave Cronin took
fourth place overall in the live fire competition. We also learned at the ceremony that we were
nominated for and voted “Post of the Year” by the Conference Planning Committee. What an honor this is to know that we are a
fairly young post and have earned the respect of advisors around the state. Congratulations to all of the explorers that
attended the conference! |
