On Thursday, July 9th and Friday, July 10th, the Sheriff’s Office assisted by the Sheriff’s Explorers hosted its first Jr. Crime Fighter Day for children in 3rd-6th grades. The day was filled with a tour of the Sheriff’s Office, the Grundy County jail, the Grundy County Courthouse- (where Jr. Crime Fighters met with the Honorable Judge Sobol), Morris Fire Station 1, Fingerprinting, a K-9 demonstration, Air Soft training, a Mock trial with Sheriff Callahan, a Bicycle Safety a
nd Traffic Safety Presentation, and two crime scenes for the groups to solve. Lunch was provided by Sheriff Callahan and over the course of the two days; nearly 100 students participated in the event. The Deputies who assisted with the event had a great time and we look forward to hosting it again next year. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped with the event.
